The Sisters of the Pious Schools, a Pontifical Institute, incorporated in the state of California as a non-profit organization, have served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles since 1954. Living the charism of St. Paula Montal, we provide an integral human-Christian-cultural formation to children and young persons, especially the marginalized. Our goal is to educate the family and empower the woman, who in turn transform society. In the words of Mother Paula, “To save families, teaching children the love of God.”

We participate in the educational mission of the Church in 20 countries, including California, Mexico, Cuba, Santo Domingo, Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Senegal, Guinea Equatorial, Spain, Italy, Poland, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, and Japan. Our Asian Province consists of five countries that truly need evangelization: Japan, the Philippines, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Our Province is rich in vocations, but scarce in funds since the majority are young sisters, who are still in formation, as well as a growing number of new candidates. For this reason, we are grateful for the opportunity to invite others to participate in the missionary activity of the Church by helping us to form our young Indian sisters for the Church. They must be strong and well-formed to live and share Christ’s message in an anti-Christian country, ever ready to face persecution.
