St. Francis Xavier Lay Missionary Society #2350

Founded in 2012, the St. Francis Xavier Lay Missionary Society is dedicated to the formation, sending, and support of Catholic Lay Missionaries to bring the light and love of Jesus Christ to others in Asia in an effort to draw all people, especially young adults, into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God through a diverse ministry of evangelization, faith formation, and social justice. As Catholic lay missionaries, the Society is devoted to bringing the love of Christ to non-Christians and providing faith formation for those already baptized to form loving faith communities of intentional disciples empowered by the Holy Spirit and dedicated to serving Christ in every aspect of life. The St. Francis Xavier Lay Missionary Society further seeks to spread awareness within the Catholic Church of the universal call of all Christians to evangelization, to aid individuals in their vocational discernment to serve God, and to form lay missionaries for foreign ministry of a high standard, grounded in faith and love in the service of our Lord.

The St. Francis Xavier Lay Missionary Society programs include:

1. Mission service to Asia through a diverse ministry of evangelization, faith formation, and social justice, especially developing young adult faith communities
2. Intensive formation of lay missionaries to serve in the field
3. Spiritual and theological presentations, workshops, and retreats for young adult groups, parish communities, priests, and religious on mission, evangelization, faith formation, personal discernment of God’s calling, and the lay vocation throughout the regions of North America, Europe, and Asia
4. University campus ministry outreach and cross-cultural evangelization
5. Domestic faith formation ministries and consultation

Our desire is to invite you to participate in our mission of spreading the Gospel in Asia! Some of the ways that you can do this are by supporting us financially and praying for our Society. Funds raised at your parish will be used for developing young adult ministry in the Minority and Persecuted Church in Asia and for the recruitment and formation of solid, well-formed lay missionaries to serve in Asia. Our greatest need at the moment is to locate and fund housing for our missionaries in Hong Kong, as our previous mission housing is no longer available to us.
