Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP) #1408

The Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP) is a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right for Mission Ad Gentes. It received its pontifical right status on January 6, 2009, from the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelization of Peoples (DEP). Having been established by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the MSP serves as the official and chief missionary arm of the Catholic Church of the Philippines. Since its inception in 1965, the MSP has worked on five continents or twelve countries. The MSP has missions to Asia Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. It serves Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, and Tokelau in Oceania. In Europe, it is present in the Netherlands and Belgium. In Northern America, it is present in the United States of America and Montreal, Canada.

The MSP envisions this gift of faith in Christ to have been lived and shared in love by all, especially the people in Asia. Our missionary engagement involves the incarnation of the Church in Asia wherein non-Christian believers abound; supportive evangelical service to the young churches until they attain ecclesial maturity; auxiliary apostolic ministry for the renewal of churches; and finally, instilling missionary consciousness to the Filipino migrants, making them partners and instruments of missionary vocation.

The appeal proceeds are meant for the following:

A)     to support our mission apostolates around the world, esp. for the food, medicines, and other needs of our missionaries in Papua New Guinea and in the Pacific Islands. We want to sustain our existing missionary ENDEAVORS AROUND the world and respond to standing INVITATIONS for missionary work.

B)     to help defray the seminary building construction and seminary formation expenses we have in forming future missionaries- of future messengers of God’s peace! We have at least 30 seminarians who are generous enough to become future missionaries. Let’s pray and help these future laborers in the vineyard of the Lord.

C)    to sustain the needs of our old and sickly missionaries who in their younger and STRONGER YEARS OFFERED so much of themselves for the mission.
