Casa Franciscana Outreach #2404

The Casa Franciscana Outreach (CFO) was established in 1988 as a 501c(3) organization through the Franciscan Province of Saint Barbara.  Its purpose is to raise funds in support of the Casa Franciscana of Guaymas Mission and its programs as it continues to address the rudimentary needs of the poor.

The CFO, as a Franciscan organization, embraces service to the poor and promotes justice, peace, and care of creation, in the joyful and prophetic spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. Toward this goal, it now provides over $400,000 each year for the important work of the mission.

The mission’s current programs address the many needs of the poor of Guaymas through its medical/dental clinic, dining room for poor adults, dining room for children, food packages for the home-bound, and many social services, and the latest project Fatima Youth Center. Outreach to migrants who travel through the area has been added to our external ministry. These programs have a life-changing impact on the poor of Guaymas.

CFO funding and the leadership of the Franciscan friars has helped to establish and institutionalize a number of important cultural and support programs in the Guaymas community over the past 34 years. These include a home for the elderly, an orphanage, a safe after-school recreational and life-skills program, and music academy for youth. These programs are now sustained through local donations and ongoing major donors, including the Mexican government.

The work of the CFO is realized by a committed group of volunteers. Fr. Martin Ibarra, director of the Guaymas Mission travels to make the mission cooperative plan appeals.  We sincerely appreciate your consideration.
