Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers #1052

The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, officially known as The Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America, Inc., are a Society of Apostolic Life of missionary priests and Brothers. We currently serve in over a dozen nations in Africa, Asia and the Americas: Kenya, Tanzania, Thailand, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, and the United States. We were founded in 1911, with the support the Bishops of the United States and Pope Pius X’s blessing, in order to provide formation for American Catholic men in becoming missionary priests and Brothers. Bound together by our commitment to Christ and to one another, we live and work side-by-side with those who are poor and marginalized to combat poverty, provide healthcare, foster educational opportunities, nurture communities, promote human rights, and care for Creation. We reach across borders — geographical and situational — to build God’s reign of justice and peace among diverse peoples. We embrace cultures and learn languages. We take on the stories, concerns and hopes of those with whom we live and serve. Together with them, in witness of the Good News of Jesus Christ, we transform lives and societies around the world.

Contributions received by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers support the global missionary ministries of our priests and Brothers in over a dozen countries, as well as the formation and education of Maryknoll candidates preparing for mission abroad as priests and Brothers. Our benefactors also generously support Maryknoll’s mission education outreach in the United States as well as our senior Maryknoll priests and Brothers who continue their lives of ministry through prayer and witness. As our Maryknoll Society Mission Vision affirms, “We exercise responsible stewardship of the human and financial resources entrusted to us. Stewardship requires concern for the charism we have been gifted with, the integrity of creation and our preferential option for the poor.”
